towson tigers season outlook
|
The Towson Tigers will take the field on Saturday, February 19th at home against cross town rival, Johns Hopkins. Tony Seaman's squad is coming off 7-8 2010 record. The Tigers found themselves in a big hole last season starting 1-5 in the first half of the year. However, when 2010 Coach of the Year Tony Seaman got took his team on the field against Delaware, the season changed. Winning their next 6 games, they ended their season losing to no one else but Delaware. This season the Tigers have named four captains to lead the team. Marc Ingerman (13GB, 5CT), Travis Love (9.24 GAA, .556 Sav%), Peter Mezzanotte (47GB, 30CT), and Tim Stratton (15G, 18A) will be the senior leadership that Seaman needs. Replacing Christian Pastirik (29G, 19A) and Will Harrington (28G, 6A) will be difficult for the Tigers. Matt Hughes (13G, 4A, 16GB), Matt Lamon (10G, 4A) and Pat Britton (7G, 6A, 10GB) will have improve on last year's stats for the Tigers to be successful. The schedule for this year has its share of difficulties. Not only do they have to host a fired up Hopkins team on opening day, but Loyola, Maryland, Stony Brook, Hofstra, UMass, and St. Joseph's will all be coming to Towson this year. Seniors on UMD, SB, and Hofstra dominate the MLL Draft earlier this year. The road schedule is not as forgiving either. Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Delaware, UMBC, Drexel, and Penn State will certainly provide a few struggles for the Tigers. There is not an easy game on this schedule and the Tigers will have their work cut out for them. For more information on the Tigers visit their website. Towson will face-off against Hopkins on Unitas Stadium at 12pm. Maryland Sports Insider will be on campus for the match up.
